 1.Why would someone choose GAS burning devices over WOOD burning devices?

To start with there is no warm up time with GAS. GAS is clean, easy and convenient. GAS is less dangerous and GAS devices are easier to clean. A GAS device can be wired to a thermostat to work similar to a furnace.

What are the PROs of WOOD burning devices? 

WOOD burning devices do not burn non-renewable resources.  WOOD as fuel is more available in remote areas. WOOD burning devices are typically less expensive as compared to GAS burning devices.

How are GAS burning devices exhausted?

Double piped chimneys are used.  The chimneys are built with a pipe within a pipe. The inside pipe is used to exhaust the hot air to the outside while the outside pipe acts as an intake to bring in the outside air. They typically do not have to be installed above the roof line.
